Dermaplaning is a simple and safe procedure used for exfoliating the uppermost layer of the skin and removing the fine vellus hair of the face. During this procedure, the surface of the skin is lightly abraded and manually exfoliated using light feathering strokes of a specialized blade. Dermaplaning removes the outer most layers of dead skin cells leaving the skin immediately smooth, supple, and vibrant. Dermaplaning also allows facial products to penetrate more readily into the deeper layers of the skin. Dermaplaning is often used on patients with rough dry skin, superficial hyperpigmentation, mild acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, or with fine vellus hair. The treatment results in a more refined, smooth, glowing appearance of the skin.
