Botox FAQ’s

  • Botox is a neurotoxin that is injected into specific muscles to temporarily paralyze the muscle, resulting in a smoothing effect for wrinkles and lines caused by muscle movements such as frowning or squinting. It is commonly used to treat facial wrinkles, eyes (crow’s feet), forehead, and the glabellar lines.

  • Botox temporarily paralyzes muscles and smooths wrinkles by blocking nerve signals.

When Botox is administered via injection, it disrupts the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that facilitates communication between nerve cells and muscles. This disruption leads to temporary paralysis of the muscles, resulting in relaxation and the inability of the targeted muscles to contract fully. By inhibiting muscle contractions, Botox reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines associated with facial expressions like frowning, squinting, or smiling. By preventing certain facial muscles from contracting, Botox slows down the formation of new wrinkles.

  • Although recovery time varies, you can expect little-to-no downtime.
